Description
Incredibly thin. Impressively fast. We've reduced the thickness of the submerged portion of our new High Modulus prepreg carbon masts by more than 15% compared to our standard carbon masts, while increasing bending and torsional stiffness.
The HM80 is ideal for non-windpowered disciplines such as prone surfing, pumping, and downwind. Its shorter string length along the entire mast reduces drag and increases maneuverability, providing greater glide, more efficient pumping, and faster turns.
The HM85 covers all disciplines, with a focus on wing-foiling. Wind-driven disciplines require leaning into the wind to generate forward thrust. Some of this thrust comes from the front wing and some from the mast. To provide this thrust efficiently, the chord length on the submerged part of the mast is slightly longer and increases near the top of the mast to maximize stiffness without penalizing drag, as this part is out of the water once foiling. A more efficient underwater body shape means less drag and, therefore, a higher, more easily attainable top speed. Mast venting is a thing of the past, thanks to special attention to this detail that significantly reduces venting at the trailing edge of the mast, regardless of the sea state.
The HM105 has been optimized for racing. The submerged portion of the mast is 1 mm thinner than the HM80 and HM85, providing an even higher top speed. As a result, this mast is not suitable for jumping. Like the HM85, the chord length in the submerged region has been adjusted to provide good upwind thrust, while the chord length above the waterline is increased to maximize stiffness. A more efficient body shape underwater means less drag and, therefore, a higher, more easily attainable top speed.
